According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Review, the competition aims to enhance and promote the role and contribution of the masses, especially the young generation, to community development activities and solving social problems. Those who are interested in community activities and have creative ideas that can create positive effects to the community can participate.

From the perspective of a co-organizer - Vietnam Electricity, Mr. Vo Quang Lam, - Vice President of the Group said, EVN has always paid attention and devoted resources to social security and community activities. By co-organizing this competition, EVN wishes to find excellent initiatives, creative and practical ideas for the community.
The competition Initiatives for Community is a central activity within the program Initiatives for Community which is organized every two years (the first time was in 2015). This is an opportunity for all domestic, foreign organizations and individuals to introduce initiatives, creative ideas and projects to support the community, eradicate hunger, reduce poverty, and develop the country's socio-economic development; contributing to building a strong and civilized country, boosting the cause of industrialization and modernization.
The prizes include: first prize of VND 50 million, second prize of VND 35 million, third prize of VND 25 million and consolation prize of VND 10 million.
At the second competition (launched in 2017), prizes were awarded to 12 initiatives out of nearly 400 applied ones. In particular, the initiative "Improving fans for oxygen generating in shrimp farming to save electricity" of the Southern Power Corporation won the first prize and the initiative "Communicating for protecting water sources and corridors of hydropower reservoirs” of EVN Youth Union won the consolation prize.
To participate in the 3rd competition Initiatives for Community:
- Send registration form with other documents such as video, graphic design, photos, etc. to the address: Communist Review, 28 Tran Binh Trong, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi.
Or: Submit the application through the program website at www.sangkienvicongdong.vn.
- Each individual or organization can register one or more projects.
- Registration time: From August 2019 to the end of February 28, 2020.
- Prize Award Ceremony: Expected in June 2020 and being broadcasted live on VTV.
