EVN affirmed its decisive role in electricity supply
In his key note address at the Conference, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc believed that in 2016 EVN comprehensively fulfilled its assignments, the most important among which is to provide sufficient electricity to the national socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister particularly acknowledged EVN’s great efforts in quickly restoring the network and resuming its power supply to the people in the floods in 2016.
Regarding the upcoming assignments, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that EVN should remain a State Owned Economic Group who plays a decisive role in power supply to the economy, in development of power grid and generation sources, ensure that the country will not confront electricity shortage in the medium amd long term.
The Prime Minister requested EVN to continue its restructure, enhancement of corporate governance, improvement of competition efficiency, possessing and managing six multipurpose strategic hydropower plants, transmission network, distribution network and a number of important thermal power complexes; ensuring its transparency, publicity and corruption combating, etc.
In addition, the PM demanded that EVN should promote its administrative reform, carry on its contribution to improvement of the competition environment in Vietnam.
“I absolutely agree upon the theme of 2017 introduced by EVN which is to promote science and technology. This is an essential step of such an Economic - Technical Group as EVN. The scientific and technological application in enhancing work productivity, saving costs, improving governance will be the foundation for EVN to rise to the top four leading corporations in ASEAN region in electricity production and business area”, emphasized by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

EVN comprehensively fulfilled its 2016 plan
The President and CEO of EVN Mr. Dang Hoang An reported that the year 2016 was the first year EVN executed its five year operation, business, investment and development plan for 2016 – 2020, together with the entire country realizing socio-economic development tasks according to the 12th National Party Congress’ Resolution and the Socio – Economic Development Plan for 2016 ratified by the National Assembly.
The Board of Directors of EVN approved its objectives, tasks and plans of 2016 in compliance with the requirements and directions of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. With the theme “Enhancement of corporate governance in EVN”, all the employees of EVN tried their bests to sufficiently satisfy electricity demands all over the country, surpassing the plan assigned by the Government. Among which: the generated and procured electricity output attained 176.99 billion kWh, 10.8% higher than 2015; power sales reaching 159.45 billion kWh, or exceeding 350 million kWh than the plan and increasing by 11% over the year 2015.

Regarding investments in generation projects, EVN completed and put into operation five units with the total installed capacity of 2,305 MW, of which Lai Chau hydropower project completed one year ahead of the schedule approved by the National Assembly.
Regarding power network projects, EVN completed and energized 297 projects, including: 10 500kV projects, 49 220kV projects and 238 110kV projects. Among which there are a lot of network projects in association with generation projects and securing electricity supply to the South, to Hanoi Capital and significant economic regions.
The power sale revenue of the whole EVN was estimated at VND 264,680 billion, or 12,9% higher than 2015. The power loss rate was 7.7%, 0.24% lower than 2015.
In particular, the average duration for access to electricity of medium voltage network of all five power companies was 7.3 days (the same figure in 2015 was 14 days), lower than the set norm i.e. 10 days, which improved the access to electricity index of Vietnam up to position 96/190 – five levels upwards against 2015.
The average customer satisfaction index in 2016 was 7.69/10 points, or 0.42 point higher than 2015 (7.27 points).
Major norms and plans of EVN for 2017

- Generated and procured electricity output: 197.2 billion kWh, increasing by 11.4% compared to 2016. Ready to meet a higher electricity demand.
- Power sales: 177.59 billion kWh, increasing by 11.4% over 2016;
- Power loss rate: 7.6%;
- Power supply reliability indices: SAIDI: 1,183 minutes, SAIFI: 10.7 times, MAIFI: 2.4 times;
- Access to electricity time: ≤10 days;
- Capital investments: VND 137,071 billion;
- Work productivity of electricity production and business sector will increase by 8-10% compared to 2016.
