In 2016, despite numerous difficulties and challenges, EVNGENCO1 systematically adopted remedial actions and completed its production targets beyond expectation. The total electricity output generated by the company achieved 23.6 billion kWh.
In particular, in the first six months, Duyen Hai 1 thermal power plant’s generated output exceeded the targeted plan 850 million kWh. As for the whole year, the total electricity output generated by the plant reached over 6.6 billion kWh, helping satisfactorily provide electricity to the provinces and cities in the South.
EVNGENCO1 took adequate delivery of coal to satisfy electricity production requirements of thermal power plants, particularly Duyen Hai thermal power complex.
EVNGENCO1 closely observed the operation of wholesale power market so that the company can offer reasonable selling prices, playing a part in enhancing production and business efficiency of the company.
EVNGENCO1 made efforts to arrange adequate finance for investment and construction needs in 2016 and part of capital needs in 2017. The total amount arranged was VND 1,778 billion, which helped secure investment and construction activities of power projects of EVNGENCO1.
Besides, EVNGENCO1 has been studying development of wind power projects (in Tra Vinh and Ben Tre) and solar power projects (on the surface of the reservoir of Dong Nai 4 hydro power plant). Other renewable energy projects are under development.

At the Conference, President and CEO Dang Hoang An required that in the coming time, EVNGENCO1 shall implement Duyen Hai 3 thermal power project on timely basis and with satisfactory quality, in order to put into operation two units on schedule to ensure adequate power supply to the South. In addition, the company should have special concerns about environmental issues in adjacent areas of the plant, and propose appropriate options to lessen maintenance works and enhance operation efficiency of units.
“With advantages in coal fired thermal power, EVNGENCO1 should establish a coal fired thermal power model for EVN in management, operation and maintenance”, emphasized by Mr. Dang Hoang An.
With the accomplishments during 2016, a lot of teams and individuals of EVNGENCO1 were awarded Certificates of Merit of Ministry of Trade and Industry and EVN.
