By early of 2018, 99.39% of households in Lam Dong province are supplied power from the national grid; of which, the rural area accounts for 98.64%. The completion of power supply to off-grid villages in the province is the basis for effective implementation of the Target Program on sustainable poverty alleviation, changing production structure associated with the new rural development, contributing to improving the spiritual and physical life of rural people.
Southern Power Corporation implemented a series of power supply works for the system of irrigation pumping stations serving the agriculture in An Giang province, contributing to promoting local economic development, helping people and enterprises expand their business, developing many models of good production with high efficiency. According to the Director of Tinh Bien Power Company (An Giang Power Company), since the 1,600kVA substation was put into operation supplying power for Cam Mountain hanger cable system, it has helped An Giang province’s tourism industry attract tens of thousands of visitors to Cam Mountain by cable car system.
The Director of Soc Trang Power Company – Mr. Huynh Minh Hai, said that Soc Trang has developed a power grid covering the center of all communes, wards and townships, raising the percentage of households supplied power in Soc Trang to 99.6%, in which the proportion of ethnic Khmer ones accounted for 91.8%.
In the area of 21 provinces and cities in the South, there are currently 2,513/2,513 communes, wards and townships supplied power, accounting for 100%; the number of households supplied power is 7.67 million households, accounting for 99.4%, of which, 5.11 million households are in rural areas, accounting for 99.18%.
In 2018, EVNSPC plans to invest over VND 8,000 billion for power system; in particular, many projects on power supply in rural, remote areas shall be put into operation.
