EVN's President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan welcomes and works with CEO of China Huadian Corporation

On August 11, in Hanoi, EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan welcomed and worked with the CEO of China Huadian Engineering Corporation (CHEC), Mr. Diao Pei Bin, on cooperation opportunities between the two groups.

Mr. Diao Pei Bin – Chief Executive Officer of China Huadian Engineering Corporation (CHEC) expected that the two sides would advance a long-term cooperation relationship.

CHEC is under the parent company of China Huadian Group (CHD) - one of the five largest power generation enterprises in China. CHEC has been implementing CHD's foreign investment programs, including Duyen Hai 2 Thermal Power Plant projects and Dak Lak wind power project cluster in Vietnam. Currently, CHEC keeps looking for further opportunities in Vietnam's power market.

EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan noted that China Huadian Engineering Corporation has well-performed thermal power and wind power projects, thereby contributing to the electricity supply in Vietnam.

Currently, the large electricity consumption demand in Vietnam entails the increasing need for additional power capacity according to the master plan.  Many additional power projects will be realized from now until 2030. EVN’s President and CEO stated that this is an opportunity for CHEC as well as its partners to participate in Vietnam's power market under various roles such as: EPC contractor, project owner, etc. EVN as the buyer in the electricity market will create the best conditions for CHEC as well as its partners to favorably participate in Vietnam's electricity market.

At the meeting, the two sides also spent time discussing a number of power generation technologies such as solutions to improve efficiency, stability, and environmental protection for coal-fired power plants; wind power technology; green hydrogen development; as well as new cooperation opportunities in the field of energy. The two sides agreed to have further discussions with the aim of moving towards effective cooperation activities in the near future.
