Electricity bills cut of more than VND 1,046 billion for electricity customers in Ho Chi Minh City

According to a report of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), at the end of the period of electricity tariff cut for consumers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, as of July 20, 2020, EVNHCMC has reduced an amount of over VND 1,046 billion for their customers.

In particular, the total amount of more than VND 341.3 billion has been cut for 2,238,050 residential customers; more than VND 420.6 billion has been cut for 83,393 production customers; 65,881 business customers have enjoyed a cut of over VND 242.6 billion; 453 customers who are tourist accommodation establishments have received a reduction of nearly VND 38.7 billion; and more than VND 3.5 billion has been subsidized for 36 health isolation facilities.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the electricity tariff cut for different types of customers is detailed as follows: 10% discount on electricity tariff for production and business customers; 10% discount on electricity tariff from grades 1 to 4 for residential customers; a tariff cut from business tariff level down to production tariff level for tourist accommodation establishments, then a further 10% discount; direct reduction of electricity charges for establishments serving the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic (20% or 100% depending on the specific provisions of Document No. 2698/BCT-DTDL).

The duration of electricity tariff cut is three months May, June, July in 2020; during which, the duration applied for residential customers is from the invoice period of May 2020 to the invoice period of July 2020, and for non-residential customers from April 16, 2020 until the end of July 15, 2020.

In execution of guidelines of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity, EVNHCMC has implemented seriously and created the most favorable conditions for customers, especially tourist accommodation establishments, to apply for preferential electricity tariffs as prescribed.
