The Prime Minister drew EVN’s attention to the fact that EVN should apply transition provisions so that the project should be transferred from the type of projects being funded by public investment capital source as being regulated to the type of ODA funded public projects in case the project is proposed for utilizing ODA source from the Government of Japan. The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to appraise and approval the technical design and construction cost estimation of the project.
Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower project is situated in 2 communes Phuoc Tan and Phuoc Hoa, Bac Ai district, Ninh Thuan province. The investor is Vietnam Electricity; the installed capacity is 1200 MW, with 4 units, 300 MW per each unit.
The main duties of Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower project are to meet the peak electricity demand of the national power network with the installed capacity of 1200 MW, at the same time to contribute to flattening out the load curve of the power system in the South and the country, with the total peak load generating hours every day of 7 hours; helping improvement of the power quality of the national power system.
