The project is invested by EVNNPT, managed and operated by CPMB, consultant designed by the Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 and received the operation management by the Power Transmission Company 1.
Nghia Lo 220kV substation (located in Nghia Lo commune, Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province) was built with the scale of installing 01 220kV-250MVA transformer and has a backup location to install more transformer in the next stage. The 220kV transmission line connecting Nghia Lo - Viet Tri 500kV substation consists of 2 circuits with a length of about 92.62km, 244 pole positions. The project acrosses some districts/towns of Yen Bai and Phu Tho provinces. This project is built to meet the capacity transmission requirements of small hydropower plants in Yen Bai which are developing very quickly; support to reduce the load for Nghia Lo - Bao Hung - Yen Bai and Nghia Lo - Ba Khe - Cam Khe 110kV transmission lines; strengthen transmission, ensure the capacity releasing for hydropower plants in Lai Chau, Son La and Dien Bien provinces. In addition, the project helps to strengthen the connection of the regional power system, improving the safety, reliability and stability when operating the regional and national power systems.

The Huoi Quang - Nghia Lo 220kV transmission line project was built to add a channel to release the capacity of the Northwest hydropower source to Hanoi capital area. The line consists of 2 circuits with a length of about 103.6km and 200 pole positions. The project is built in Muong La and Bac Yen districts of Son La province and Tram Tau and Van Chan districts of Yen Bai province.
According to the plan, these projects will be completed and energized by June 2023, contributing to ensuring power for the North from the hot season in 2023.
