Lao Cai has been developing three key sectors, including industry, border economy and tourism; in which, the power output for industry accounts for 82.38%.
Over the past years, with the support from the Power sector in supply sufficient power for socio-economic development, especially for industry, Lao Cai has been constantly developing and has been one of the leading localities in North West region in development speed.
The leaders of Lao Cai province also express their gratitude to the sector for their efforts to supply power to rural areas, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minority people.
Currently, about 10% of hamlets, villages have not been supplied power in Lao Cai province. Local leaders express their hope that EVN will continue implementing projects to supply power to remote villages and hamlets, especially in 3 border communes of Bac Ha district – the poor district under Program 30a. This is a place where Lao Cai province is planning orientation of tourism development.
At the meeting, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of EVN’s Member Council affirms that EVN always strived to supply sufficient power for socio-economic development and people's livelihood life in Lao Cai province.
In the coming time, in order to meet increasing power load in the province, Leaders of the Group assigns Lao Cai Power Company (under Northern Power Corporation) to coordinate with the locality to survey actual demand on power using in order to timely plan for investment and power supply, especially industrial and tourist development areas of the province.
The Chairman of EVN’s Member Council also assigns Lao Cai Power Company to conduct field survey in 3 border communes of Bac Ha district to consider, deploy the most effective project for power supply.
For remote areas without local grid power, EVN suggests Lao Cai province to call for socialized capital, mobilize investors to cooperate with EVN to effectively implement the projects of power supply to rural areas.
As of 2017, 100% of communes, wards and towns and 94.7% of households in Lao Cai province has had access to power.
