In the period from 2016 to present: Stable and reliable electricity supply for most households

Notably during this period, since October 2022, EVN has energized and operated the 80.4 km long Kien Binh - Phu Quoc 220 kV transmission line with 117 towers across the sea. This is the longest overhead cross-the-sea 220kV transmission line in Southeast Asia, deployed for the first time in Vietnam, the construction commencement by the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) in 2019. The project helps improve the power supply capacity for Phu Quoc island by about 6 times and can meet the island's electricity demand until 2035.
With a leading and core role, Vietnam Electricity has overcome many difficulties and challenges to bring electricity to remote areas, borders, and islands, creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development, and making an important contribution to the modernization and industrialization of agriculture and rural areas in Vietnam. By the end of 2023, 100% of communes across the country had been electrified, and the number of rural households having access to electricity reached 99.6%.
Currently, EVN has been making efforts to coordinate with relevant authorities to light up most rural households. At the same time, EVN has been constantly modernizing and improving the quality of electricity services and customer care services; with the aim that people in rural areas and islands can use and experience modern and convenient 4.0 electricity services.
From 2000 to 2015 was the period when rural electrification in Vietnam developed the most strongly, on average every day about 1,300 more rural households were electrified.
