Mr. Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Chairman of the Board of Engineers of Cambodia (hosting body of CAFEO40) attended and opened CAFEO40.
Minister Ith Sam Heng proposed that nearly 1,200 delegates who are engineers and technical experts from 10 ASEAN member states and partner countries such as Korea, Japan, China, India, and Australia, etc. should pay attention to discussing such issues as Challenges and opportunities of the engineering community in the 4th Industrial Revolution; Artificial intelligence in technological development; Adaptive and sustainable engineering manufacturing methods; Sustainable design; Solutions in digital transformation, internet of things and smart plant operation.
Vietnamese delegation attended CAFEO40
Representing the Vietnamese delegation - Master Nguyen Quyet Chien, General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Head of the delegation, was involved in presentations and discussions at the meetings of the ASEAN Engineers Register and AFEO Leadership Council.
Also at the opening ceremony, 6 engineers from Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (under Vietnam Electricity), representing 227 engineers who are titled as ASEAN chartered professional engineers in 2021 and 2022, were granted certificates and badges of ASEAN professional engineers. This is a proud achievement of the power sector in its determination to develop and foster a team of highly qualified engineers and technicians in the new era in line with high-tech trends in the context of Industry 4.0.
In 2022, AFEO recognized the title of ASEAN chartered professional engineer for 207 Vietnamese engineers, of which 98% are engineers in the power sector. Up to now, 552 Vietnamese engineers have won this title since the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations joined as an official member of this institution in 1998.
