The Power Trading Company should focus on digital transformation in 2021

On 19 January, directing at the 2020 Conference of Summarizing 2020 Performance and Implementing the 2021 Tasks of the Power Trading Company (the Company), Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) praised the  company's achieved results in the past year, and also highlighted the tasks to be focused on in 2021.

In 2020, although the COVID-19 pandemic occurred complicatedly, in addition, the number of renewable energy plants put into operation is large and concentrated in a short time, the company implemented contracts in large volume, and ensuring accuracy and quality. The company checked the records to ensure their accuracy and paid for the 276 monthly power purchase contracts in accordance with the regulations of the State and EVN, with a total cost of purchasing power at VND 240.67 trillion.

The company has negotiated 246 projects, including new power projects and contracts to amend and supplement BOT projects, thermal IPPs, hydropower IPPs with installed capacity of over 30MW, and projects of renewable energy, power import and export, etc., with 345 negotiation contents. In which, 234 contents have been approved and authorized by EVN to sign contracts.

Performing electricity sale to 5 Power Corporations with the total output estimated at 223.93 billion kWh (increasing by 2.9% compared to that of 2019); well completing the electricity wholesale market in 2020; well and promptly calculating the electricity purchase costs and synthesizing the electricity purchase costs and the weekly electricity sales of EVN, and so on.

In particular, the company has mobilized manpower, closely coordinated with investors to successfully complete the task of commissioning and energizing 45 solar power plants before 31 December 2020. In addition, the company has also successfully completed the new tasks assigned by EVN in 2020 such as: Approval of the price offer table and implementation of the Contract for dependent accounting plants, statistics of power loss.

Entering the year 2021, the Company will focus on implementing the tasks assigned by the Group on the plan to deploy the Vietnam Retail Electricity market (VREM) under the direction of the Electricity Regulatory Authority; well implement the electricity price negotiation plan/power purchase agreement as agreed with the investors of IPP, BOT power plants with capacity of over 30M; implement effectively the electricity market, focus on negotiating contract output with power generation units complying with regulations; well manage the bidding approval and well perform the contracts of thermal power plants (dependent accounting units) under EVN to participate in the electricity market.
