Two projects under EVN won Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2023

On May 30, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creation coordinated with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYUCC) to organize the summarizing and awarding ceremony of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2023 (VIFOTEC). Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is honored on 2 projects.

The VIFOTEC Award is an annual science and technology innovation award organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) in coordination with MOST, VGCL, and HCYUCC to honor scientists and technologists who have had projects of great scientific, economic, and social value that have been applying effectively in Vietnam.

In the field of energy saving and new energy use, the author groups under EVN won 1 Second Prize and 1 Third Prize, including:

- Second Prize: Project "Research, construction, and integration of distribution substation operation monitoring system with Outage Management System (OMS) and Geographic Information System (GIS)" from ​​a group of authors: Dr. Luan Quoc Hung - Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (chairman); MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Khoa; MSc. Phan Hoang San; MSc. Dinh Dinh Huy; Engineer Nguyen Nhat Minh; and Engineer Nguyen Pham Tri Dung. Host unit: Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC).

- Third Prize: Project "Research on building a supporting tool for the Automatic Generation Control (AGC) system to monitor the intra-regional and inter-regional power grids on the Vietnam power system when there is a high penetration of renewable energy sources" from a group of authors: MSc. Nguyen Duc Ninh - Director of the National Load Dispatch Center (chairman); MSc. Dinh Xuan Duc (co-chairman); MSc. Pham Quynh (co-chairman); MSc. Phung Dang Huy; and MSc. Lai Viet An. Host unit: National Load Dispatch Center (EVNNLDC).

Sharing about the research project of EVNHCMC, Mr. Luan Quoc Hung - Project Chairman and Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC said that the project "Research, construction, and integration of distribution substation operation monitoring system with Outage Management System (OMS) and Geographic Information System (GIS)" not only brings benefits to the Power sector but also serves more than 10 million people in Ho Chi Minh City. The results of this research project help EVNHCMC improve its capacity to monitor and operate the power grid. Currently, this system has been put into use to monitor EVNHCMC's distribution substations. The application of this project into practice helped the unit save costs with an estimated amount of about VND 85 billion per year.

The VIFOTEC Award has encouraged the exploration and creation of scientific and technological works capable of solving urgent practical requirements, enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese products.
