Ms. Cáit Moran – Ambassador of Ireland to Vietnam; Mr. Ibnu Hadi – Ambassador of Indonesia to Vietnam; Mr. Ousmane Dione – Country Director for the World Bank in Vietnam; Mr. Fujita Yasuo – Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office; Mr. Rémi Genevey – Country Director of French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam; and Trade Attachés, Secretaries and representatives of Embassies of Germany, France, Russia, the USA, the Great Britain, China, Australia and South Korea; representatives from the Asian Development Bank, KfW Development Bank, etc. also took part in the Meeting.
EVN was honored to welcome Mr. Bui Truong Giang – Vice Chairman of the President’s Office and representatives from such Ministries as Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, representatives from State Bank of Vietnam, banks, credit institutions, local and foreign corporations.
Representing Vietnam Electricity in the Meeting, there were Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of Board of Directors, Mr. Dang Hoang An, President and CEO together with members of Board of Directors and Vice Presidents.
In the ceremony, Mr. Dang Hoang An announced that during 2016 EVN had fulfilled its mission in sufficiently supplying electricity to the national economy and the society with the power consumption growth rate of 11% in comparison with 2015. This rate was considered as one of the fastest growth rates in power consumption in the world.
At present, the Vietnamese national power grid is standing second among the ASEAN countries and 30th on the global scale.

The President and CEO Mr. Dang Hoang An asserted that EVN’s progresses in the development process have been achieved thanks to effective supports, assistances and cooperation from governmental organizations, domestic and foreign partners.
“We have set ourselves a target that until 2020 EVN will become one of the four strongest national power corporations in the ASEAN region. We do hope that we will continue receiving supports and assistances from Governmental organizations, development agencies and financial institutions.” – said the President and CEO of EVN.
Mr. Norio Saito – Deputy Country Director of Vietnam Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank affirmed that ADB shall always be a trustworthy partner of EVN.
In the ceremony, on behalf of the guests, Mr. Norio Saito – Deputy Country Director of Vietnam Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank said that he had been strongly impressed by EVN’s achievements during the last time.
Recognizing that EVN has been coping with a lot of challenges such as the ever increasing energy demand of the country, requirements for more sustainable and higher efficient electricity supply, etc., Mr. Norio Saito confirmed that ADB shall be a trustworthy partner of Vietnam and EVN, together with Vietnam and EVN to deal with challenges of power consumption demand. Power sector and energy sector will be priority areas in the new Country Cooperation Strategy of ADB for the period 2016 - 2020. Especially ADB and other partners shall assist Vietnam in ensuring energy security, enhancing investments in renewable energy, and combating climate change.
