Leaders of the World Bank (WB) sent a letter of congratulations to the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) and the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) on the Corporation’s reception of Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE) Assess Certificate.

Full letter of congratulations from Mr. Ousmane Dione - Country Director of World Bank in Viet Nam

EVNHCMC is the first enterprise in Viet Nam granted the EDGE assess Certificate. This achievement shows that EVN/EVNHCMC has been actively managing the equality between male and female employees, effectively issuing and implementing policies on gender equality.

WB’s leaders expressed their delight at the cooperation between EVN and WB (since 2016) on effectively expediting the Group’s gender equality action plan. With the EDGE assess Certificate received by EVNHCMC as a result, it not only creates a more comprehensive environment for workforce of the Corporation but also exerts positive general impacts on the Vietnamese Energy sector.

Currently, EVN and WB have continuously coordinated in deploying some contents such as developing human resource management mechanisms for female employees; deploying programs on counseling and training career support for female employees, particularly for leadership, management positions; etc.

- EDGE (Economic Dividends for Gender Equality) is a leading assessment method and business standard certificate for gender equality developed by the EDGE Certified Foundation (Switzerland).

- In early 2018, EVN coordinated with Viet Nam Business Coalition for Women’s Empowerment (VBCWE) to invite EDGE to conduct survey, assessment of gender equality policies and implementation in EVNHCMC.
