During the meeting, Gulf Energy representatives provided an overview of the Group’s capabilities and operational experience, while sharing its strategic vision for energy development in the Vietnamese market in the coming years.
Gulf Energy is one of Thailand’s largest private power producers, with extensive experience in natural gas-fired power generation, hydropower, solar power, battery energy storage systems (BESS), onshore wind, and offshore wind power. The Group currently operates power projects with a combined installed capacity of more than 16,000MW and aims to expand its global generation portfolio to over 25,000MW by 2035.
In Vietnam, through its subsidiaries, Gulf Energy has developed and commissioned two solar power projects with a combined capacity of 119MW and three nearshore wind power projects with a total capacity of 128MW in Vinh Long Province. In addition, the Group is proposing several LNG-to-power and wind power projects in Vietnam.
Chairman Dang Hoang An welcomed Gulf Energy’s continued interest in Vietnam’s energy market, particularly the successful development and commercial operation of its solar and wind power projects, which have contributed to strengthening the country’s electricity supply.
He noted that, as electricity demand continues to grow in line with Vietnam’s socio-economic development, the country will require diversified investment resources to develop new power generation capacity, including greater participation from international investors. EVN supports such efforts and stands ready to maintain close communication and information exchange with Gulf Energy as the Group studies and develops energy projects in Vietnam, in accordance with national power development plans, relevant regulatory frameworks, and the operational requirements for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the national power system.
The EVN Chairman also encouraged Gulf Energy to continue working closely with relevant government authorities, local administrations, and stakeholders to advance the development of wind power, LNG-to-power projects, and other suitable energy initiatives in Vietnam.
