On the morning of 12 June in Hanoi, Nguyen Tai Anh, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), held talks with a delegation of Norwegian energy companies led by Ms. Hilde Solbakken, Ambassador of Norway to Vietnam.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) and several Norwegian companies specializing in the offshore wind sector.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the implementation of cooperation activities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between EVN and GE Vernova, with particular focus on exploring the application of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology in the development of Vietnam's power transmission system.

Two sides exchange views on technical and technological cooperation, as well as future directions for collaboration.

Speaking at the meeting, EVN Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh expressed his appreciation for GE Vernova's continued interest in and support for the development of Vietnam's power system. He noted that, as electricity demand continues to grow, the country's generation evolves, and interregional power transmission requirements become increasingly significant, it is essential to explore advanced transmission technologies to enhance the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the national power system.

Mr. Neil Beardsmore, Managing Director of GE Vernova UK Grid Solutions, shares insights into global experience in deploying HVDC technology.

Mr. Neil Beardsmore, Managing Director of GE Vernova UK Grid Solutions, shared international experience in the development and application of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, particularly for large-capacity transmission systems, long-distance power transmission, and the integration of renewable energy sources. GE Vernova also expressed its interest in continuing to work closely with EVN to explore technology solutions tailored to the operational requirements and practical conditions of Vietnam's power system.

Following the discussions, EVN and GE Vernova UK Grid Solutions agreed to maintain close coordination between their respective technical teams to further exchange information and examine technical, financial, and cooperation arrangements in greater detail.
