The People's Committee of Da Nang City issued Decision No. 360/QD-UBND (dated 23 January 2026) approving the investment policy for the Thanh My - Quang Trach branch - Doc Soi 500kV transmission line Project, and simultaneously approving the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor for the project.
The new construction scale of the project includes two 500kV double-circuit transmission lines with a total length of approximately 77.3km, passing through Phu Thuan, Ha Nha, Thuong Duc, Thanh My, and Ben Giang communes of Da Nang city. Simultaneously, the project will install 4 transmission line bays and 2 busbar section bays at the Thanh My 500kV Substation. The project uses a total land area of approximately 247.47 hectares, of which 34.77 hectares are permanently occupied by pole and tower foundations, while the remainder lies within the line’s safety corridor.
The project is intended to strengthen transmission capability for the Quang Nam area (now under Da Nang City) and the Central Highlands, helping release power from the Thanh My 500kV Substation and accommodating additional power imports from Lao power sources, with a total potential capacity of up to 2,000MW; simultaneously meeting the power transmission needs of hydropower and renewable energy plants in the region. The work is expected to ensure a stable power supply, reduce system losses, improve inter-regional operational reliability, and contribute to socio-economic development.

According to the plan, from Q3 2025 to Q4 2028, the project will carry out investment preparation, land acquisition, construction, and equipment installation, and then be put into operation.
The Thanh My – Quang Trach Branch – Doc Soi 500kV transmission line project is one of the key works in the national energy project list approved by the Prime Minister, with strategic significance for ensuring national energy security and the sustainable development of the Central and Central Highlands region.
