Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan, Deputy General Director of EVNSPC, stated that metallurgical and steel production is a load-demanding sector requiring not only sufficient capacity but also extremely stable, continuous, and high-quality power supply. The Nha Be Steel project requires a power supply with a peak capacity of 27.2MW and an average monthly power consumption of approximately 6.975 million kWh. Anticipating the project's load growth, EVNSPC proactively worked with and agreed on a technical plan and signed a cooperation agreement with Nha Be Steel Joint Stock Company – VNSTEEL on April 17, 2026.

Accordingly, EVNSPC is investing in the Nha Be Steel 110kV Substation and connecting power lines in the Nhon Trach II – Nhon Phu Industrial Park, Nhon Trach commune, Dong Nai city. The Nha Be Steel 110kV Substation has a capacity of 2x40MVA (Phase 1 involves investing in one 40MVA transformer, with the foundation for the second transformer already constructed to meet increased load); the connecting power line is 220m long, with two circuits, connecting to the existing Long Thanh 2 – Hyosung 2 110kV power line.
The total investment for the project is nearly VND 97.5 billion, and it is expected to be commissioned and operational in the third quarter of 2027, ready to supply power to the Nha Be Steel Plant, which is expected to start operations from the fourth quarter of 2027.
The project not only ensures a safe and stable power supply for Nha Be Steel's steel billet production line from 2027, but also contributes to reducing the load on existing power sources, increasing grid connectivity, and improving the reliability of power supply for the entire Nhon Trach II – Nhon Phu Industrial Park.
EVNSPC will focus all resources to implement the project on schedule, meeting the requirements for power supply in sync with the construction progress of the plant and equipment installation; at the same time, it commits to closely coordinating with the investor, management agencies and relevant units during the design, construction, connection and acceptance phases, in order to ensure the power system operates safely and stably, fully meeting the electricity needs of the steelmaking line when the project comes into operation, Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan added.
To ensure the power project is completed on schedule, EVNSPC representatives also requested the People's Committee of Dong Nai City, the Department of Industry and Trade, and other relevant agencies to continue paying attention to and supporting the procedures for investor approval and land clearance for the power line route.
The implementation of the power supply project for Nha Be Steel – VNSTEEL further affirms the Southern Power Corporation's motto of "being one step ahead" in proactively investing in power infrastructure, ensuring safe and reliable power supply, and effectively serving the development requirements of industrial zones and clusters in particular, and the socio-economic development of the Southern region in general.
With the motto "Electricity leads the way," EVNSPC is currently investing in and implementing power supply projects for industrial parks and key industrial projects in the southern provinces and cities, such as: Phuoc Dong Industrial Park (Tay Ninh province); Thanh Thanh Cong Industrial Park, Hiep Thanh Industrial Park (Tay Ninh province); Long Duc 3 Industrial Park, Bau Can - Tan Hiep Industrial Park, Xuan Que - Song Nhan Industrial Park (Dong Nai city); Vinh Thanh Industrial Park (Can Tho city); Tan Duc Industrial Park (Lam Dong province)...
