Towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Management and Distribution Department (August 7, 1976 – August 7, 2026) – the predecessor of the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) – the Power Companies (PCs) under EVNHCMC organized the unveiling of 10 major investment, construction, and repair projects for the power grid. These projects focus on developing new power sources, addressing degraded grid sections, and modernizing the operating system, contributing to improved reliability of power supply to serve the socio-economic development of the city.

These projects were registered by Cho Lon Power Company (Cho Lon PC), Saigon Power Company (Sai Gon PC), and Binh Phu Power Company (Binh Phu PC) as part of the emulation movement to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation, construction, and development of EVNHCMC.

Of these, four projects aim to expand and enhance the power supply capacity of the city's grid, including: the construction of a new connecting line between the Hung Vuong substation and the Phu Dong switching station, and the construction of a new Novaland feeder line (Cho Lon PC); the construction of a new Tao Dan - Ham Nghi line with over 1,500m of 24kV medium-voltage underground cable and nearly 1,480m of cable trenches (Saigon PC); and the completion and development of the low-voltage grid and substations in the Binh Hung Hoa and Binh Hung Hoa A areas (Binh Phu PC). After commissioning, these projects will contribute to increasing the load capacity of the  Cho Quan 110kV GIS Substation, supplementing a second power source for the Thap Do switching station, and developing new cable lines and power sources, improving the flexibility and stability of the grid.

Five major repair projects aimed at addressing long-operating power grid points and equipment, helping to reduce the risk of incidents and improve the safety and quality of power supply, include: maintaining the power busbar system in apartment buildings in District 5 and District 8; replacing damaged or water-prone low-voltage distribution cabinets (Cho Lon PC); replacing 27 low-voltage distribution cabinets, 77 power poles, and 41 connection boxes that no longer meet safety standards (Saigon PC); and two projects to replace medium-voltage power grids on several routes such as Cau Kinh, Cuu Phu, Trung Tam, etc. (Binh Phu PC).

In addition, Saigon PC also completed the repair and replacement of components and accessories for RMU cabinets, control equipment, and remote monitoring and control systems, thereby improving the management and operation of the power grid, better meeting the electricity needs of the people and the socio-economic development requirements of the city.

The installation of name boards commemorating the 50th anniversary of EVNHCMC's development reflects the efforts of the Corporation's staff, engineers, and workers in modernizing the power grid, improving the reliability of power supply, and meeting the development requirements of the megacity of Ho Chi Minh City.
