EVN, TKV, and Dong Bac Corporation review and finalize draft agreement on long-term imported coal supply for EVN’s thermal power plants

On the morning of October 30 in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) held a working session with the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and the Dong Bac Corporation to review and finalize a draft cooperation agreement on the long-term supply of imported Bituminous and Sub-bituminous coal for EVN’s thermal power plants.

The meeting was chaired by EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai.

Following the directive of the Prime Minister stated in Directive No. 30/CT-TTg dated October 6, 2025, on strengthening state management over coal production, trading, and supply for power generation in the new context, EVN has been closely coordinating with TKV, Dong Bac Corporation, and Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) to finalize the draft agreement on the long-term supply of imported Bituminous/Sub-bituminous coal for EVN’s thermal power plants.

The draft agreement defines the principles for long-term cooperation, ensuring a stable coal supply with quality specifications suitable to the design parameters of each power plant, and in compliance with TCVN, ISO, and ASTM standards.

The parties agreed on a coordination mechanism through the Joint Steering Committee on Coal Supply for Power Generation, comprising representatives from EVN, TKV, and Dong Bac Corporation, to coordinate coal import, blending, transportation, and address any issues arising during the supply process.
