Meeting between EVN and CPECC on March 5, 2025
During the meeting, Mr. La Tat Hung shared solutions for upgrading and retrofitting coal-fired power plants to optimize performance, including capacity expansion, emission reduction, and improved operational flexibility. According to CPECC’s leadership, technological advancements will enable coal-fired power plants to continue serving as a stable baseload source, supporting the electricity system as Vietnam expands its renewable energy development.
CPECC executives emphasized that Vietnam is a strategic market in the company’s global investment expansion plan. As one of the leading corporations in the nuclear power sector, CPECC has participated in 32 projects in China and aims to increase its reactor capacity to 60GW within the next decade. In the future, CPECC expressed its desire to collaborate with EVN in this field.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of EVN Board of Directors Dang Hoang An highly appreciated CPECC's proposals. Given the growing electricity demand and the strong energy transition trend in Vietnam, the participation of experienced and capable corporations like CPECC is essential. EVN will continue to advise and propose policies to the Government and relevant authorities to refine mechanisms and create a favorable investment environment for companies in the Vietnamese energy sector.
