On July 22nd, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) and Becamex Group (Investment and Development Corporation) signed a cooperation framework covering power grid planning, investment, operation, electricity services, and energy infrastructure development. This agreement lays the foundation for both parties to improve the quality of power supply to industrial parks, while simultaneously developing green energy infrastructure to attract investment in the new phase.

Representing EVNHCMC were Mr. Pham Quoc Bao – Chairman of the Member Board of EVNHCMC, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh – General Director of EVNHCMC, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tung – Member of the Member Board of EVNHCMC, the Deputy General Directors, leaders of functional departments of the Corporation, and representatives of member units under EVNHCMC.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Quoc Bao said that the goal of the signing ceremony was to build a long-term and effective coordination mechanism. Accordingly, Becamex Group is one of the leading enterprises in the development of industrial, urban, and service infrastructure, and is also a "magnet" attracting many domestic and foreign investment projects. For EVNHCMC, Becamex is also a particularly important customer, as the capacity of the 110kV substations serving the group's industrial parks accounts for about 1/7 of the total 110kV grid capacity managed by the Corporation.

Based on this reality, EVNHCMC has identified ensuring a stable and continuous power supply to Becamex's industrial parks as a key task in the coming years, aiming to complete the entire regional power grid within the next 2-3 years. Initially, the goal is to automate 50% of the 22kV power lines by the end of 2026 and reach 100% by 2028; for the 110kV grid, the target is to ensure the entire system meets the N-1 criterion by 2028, thereby improving the reliability of power supply to the region.

Along with preparing for the investment roadmap, EVNHCMC also continues implementing solutions to address bottlenecks in the regional power system, while coordinating with relevant units to accelerate the progress of important power generation and transmission projects to increase the power supply capacity for industrial zones.

According to the recently signed cooperation agreement, the two units will comprehensively coordinate in the planning and investment of power grids serving industrial, urban, and service zones invested in by Becamex; share operational data of the SCADA/DMS system; coordinate customer service and electricity retail activities and implement demand response (DR) programs.

Notably, EVNHCMC and Becamex Group also agreed to research and develop new energy models such as rooftop solar power, battery energy storage systems (BESS), LNG cogeneration, and other energy-efficient solutions, in line with the energy transition and sustainable development orientation.

Leaders of both units expect that the combination of EVNHCMC's power system management and operation capabilities with Becamex Group's industrial infrastructure development experience will help build a modern energy infrastructure system, meeting the requirements of green economic development, attracting investment, and enhancing Ho Chi Minh City's competitiveness in the new phase.
