Modernizing operation management, enhancing transmission grid reliability
Currently, EVNNPT manages and operates the 220–500kV transmission line and substation system, the largest in Southeast Asia, comprising more than 33,300km of transmission lines, 217 substations, and a total transformer capacity surpassing 139,300MVA.
In 2025, transmitted electricity output was estimated at over 256.5 billion kWh, an increase of more than 4% compared to that of 2024. The transmission grid operated safely and stably, contributing to ensuring power supply for socio-economic development, especially during peak hot-season months when the system faced high operational stress.

EVNNPT continued to promote science and technology application in operation management to ensure safe, continuous, and stable power transmission for country’s socio-economic development.
To date, EVNNPT has converted 169 out of 174 220kV substations to remote operation, achieving a rate of 97.1%, and has completed remote-operation trials at five 500kV substations. At the same time, the Corporation has continued to improve and effectively utilize digital applications in the operation management of transmission lines and substations; apply UAVs, artificial intelligence (AI), geographic information systems (GIS), and integrate operational management platforms.
Numerous scientific research projects and new technology application initiatives have been implemented, such as: AI- and UAV-based automatic thermal inspection of substations; AI camera monitoring of transmission right-of-ways; online monitoring of transformer oil; dynamic line rating monitoring; installation of temperature monitoring systems for bushings and reactors; safety warning systems at substations; and so on. These efforts have contributed to improving equipment reliability, early detection of potential risks, and minimizing operational risks.
Breakthroughs in transmission grid construction investment

In 2025, EVNNPT commenced construction of 42 projects and completed and energized 49 projects. The total investment value for construction in 2025 was estimated at more than VND 29 trillion, equivalent to nearly 140% of the targets set by the annual Resolution and EVN’s assigned plan at the beginning of the year.
In particular, implementing Vietnam Electricity’s policy on mobilizing support forces for the construction of the Lao Cai – Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project, EVNNPT mobilized officials and engineers from its subsidiary units and assigned Corporation leaders to directly participate in on-site management, inspection, and supervision. This made an important contribution, together with EVN, to completing the energization of the project in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives.
Strengthening discipline, aiming toward 2026 targets
Entering 2026, EVNNPT aims to operate the transmission system safely, continuously, and stably, with a projected transmitted electricity output of 276.5 billion kWh. The Corporation will focus on enhancing grid reliability, especially the North–Central–South 500kV system and grids connecting power sources; strengthening technical management, inspection, and periodic testing; and resolutely preventing subject-related incidents.
EVNNPT will continue to apply new technologies and advanced solutions to reduce incidents and extend equipment lifespan, such as improving grounding systems, installing surge arresters, lightning monitoring, using drones, installing surveillance cameras, and assessing equipment degradation.
In construction investment, EVNNPT targets the commencement of 87 projects and the energization of 86 projects in 2026. To achieve these goals, the Corporation will implement early investment preparation and route agreements; strictly control the quality and progress of appraisal and approval processes; proactively coordinate with ministries, sectors, and local authorities to resolve site clearance issues; and ensure sufficient capital arrangements for transmission grid projects.
With a solid foundation built in 2025, together with a spirit of solidarity, innovation, and strong determination, EVNNPT enters 2026 with renewed momentum and confidence, continuing to uphold its role as the “backbone” of the national power system, contributing to ensuring energy security and supporting the country’s socio-economic development.
