This item is part of the Project to install the second 500kV-900MVA transformer and the 220kV-250MVA transformer at the Duc Hoa 500kV Substation and its connection, with the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor and the National Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) as the project management and operating unit.

Before energizing the project, the investor's acceptance council conducted a comprehensive review of the legal documents, acceptance conditions, completion documents, and the project site, ensuring that all conditions for putting the project into operation were complied with.

The project aims to improve the supply capacity for Tay Ninh province, Ho Chi Minh City, and neighboring localities, while strengthening the 500kV grid connection and enhancing the stability and safety of the national power system.

The entire project includes the installation of a 500/220/35kV transformer with a capacity of 900MVA (comprising three 300MVA single-phase transformers), one 220/110/22kV transformer with a capacity of 250MVA; the addition of 500kV, 220kV, and 110kV switchgear bays, along with control, protection, SCADA, communication, fire protection systems, and synchronous connecting lines. The total investment is over VND 688 billion.

In December 2025, the 220kV transformer with a capacity of 250MVA, part of the project, was energized and put into operation. With the completion of energizing the second 500kV transformer, the total capacity of the Duc Hoa 500kV Substation was increased to 2,050MVA.

The commissioning of the project's second 500kV - 900MVA transformer is the result of close coordination among the investor, the operating unit, contractors, consultants, and relevant agencies; it also contributes to enhancing the transmission capacity of the 500kV power system, ensuring safe and stable power supply to provinces and cities in the Southern region, and fulfilling EVNNPT's investment and construction plan.

The project's success further affirms NPTPMB's management and operational capabilities, as well as the effective coordination among units in implementing key power transmission projects, creating momentum to further accelerate project progress and contribute to ensuring national energy security.
