The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB), in coordination with related units, successfully energized the Vu Thu 220kV Substation and its connection line on the morning of May 26.

The Vu Thu 220kV Substation is located in Tam Quang Commune, Vu Thu District, Thai Binh Province. The connection line passes through the communes of Tam Quang, Dung Nghia, Minh Khai, and Viet Hung in Vu Thu District.

The project includes the construction of a new 220/110/22kV substation with one 250MVA transformer, and the construction of approximately 1.9km of new 4-circuit 220kV connecting transmission line. The project energization has been agreed upon by the investor-level acceptance council at a meeting held at the end of April 2025.

After commissioning, the project will receive 220kV electricity from the national power grid and the Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant to supply 110kV power to the southern area of Thai Binh Province, including Vu Thu District, Thai Binh City, and neighboring areas, meeting the increasingly growing electricity demand of Thai Binh Province and the region.

Additionally, the project helps reduce power losses in the transmission grid, strengthens the regional power system connections, and improves the safety, reliability, and stability of the regional and national power system operations.

Completing the project at this time is a practical action by the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB) to celebrate the success of EVNNPT’s 4th Party Congress and to welcome the upcoming 4th Party Congress of EVN for the 2025-2030 term.

The Vu Thu 220kV Substation and connection line project is invested by EVNNPT, managed and operated by NPMB, with Power Transmission Company 1 taking over operation upon project completion.
