Engineer Pham Duy Phuoc (Dong Nai Hydropower Company), with the spirit of "dare to think - dare to do - dare to create", contributed to strongly inspiring the innovation movement in the entire Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1).

In the context of EVNGENCO1 strongly implementing the digital transformation strategy, applying science and technology, and building an innovation culture in the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, the Conference "Innovation and human resource development in the EVNGENCO1 Cultural journey" recently held in Ha Long has become an important milestone.

Among them, the story of Engineer Pham Duy Phuoc from Dong Nai Hydropower Company stands out as a vivid example of the spirit of “daring to think, daring to act, and daring to create,” strongly inspiring the innovation movement across the entire Corporation.

Worrying about smallest things

At work, Mr. Phuoc soon identified a seemingly small yet challenging problem: how to transmit data from the DCS control system to an external computer while ensuring absolute information security. From that concern, he developed the “One-way Optical Information Isolator”, a breakthrough initiative that helps the system operate more flexibly while still ensuring data security.

This solution was recognized and honored by EVN with the “Make by EVN” title in 2024, affirming the creative thinking that originated from the plant’s practical needs. Not only does the product deliver technical efficiency, but it also saves costs by leveraging existing equipment and innovating in data transmission isolation methods, a clear demonstration of the innovation driven by the Corporation’s own operation engineers.

Igniting innovation from ordinary people

Not stopping at a single initiative, engineer Phuoc and his colleagues at Dong Nai Hydropower continue to engage in more strategic projects. In 2025, he led a scientific research project at the Corporation level: “Research on methods for building, managing, and using Big Data sources at hydropower plants - applying analysis and diagnosis of reservoir monitoring data.”

Data is a living asset. When exploited, it will become a 'second brain' to support people in all technical decisions," he said. With that direction, Phuoc’s initiative not only addresses the existing problem but also paves the way for smart operation, a strategic step in EVNGENCO1’s digital transformation roadmap.

Previously, he and his team of engineers developed an AI-based intrusion detection and warning system, built a database and API for operations management, and created a rain monitoring system using LoRa radio technology to replace the outdated 2G network. Every initiative, whether small or large, was carried out by him and his teammates with a spirit of dedication, self-study, and awareness that "innovation starts with responsibility for daily work".
