This is one of the highlights of the "Conference to summarize the works in 2024 and deploy the tasks in 2025 of the Industry and Trade sector" by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) on the afternoon of December 23, in Hanoi.

The Industry and Trade sector contributes comprehensively to the overall success of the country

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son giving directive speech

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Industry and Trade sector has made a breakthrough in building and perfecting institutions and policies by consulting the Government to submit to the National Assembly for approval of the Electricity Law (amended) in 1 session... In parallel, there are outstanding results in successfully implementing key projects of strategic significance such as the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project with many records, large oil and gas and energy projects, and so on.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien giving speech accepting direction of Deputy Prime Minister and acknowledging contributions of representatives of provinces, cities, and enterprises

MOIT also acknowledged that EVN and its member units have actively implemented construction investment work, and promptly put into operation many power grid projects, in which the miracle of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line from Quang Trach to Pho Noi with a series of records inspiring overcoming difficulties and creativity...

Following the close direction of the Government and MOIT, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has been ensuring power supply to meet the needs of socio-economic development and people's daily life. Accordingly, the total power output of the entire national power system in 2024 is estimated at 309.7 billion kWh, an increase of 10.1% over the same period in 2023, surpassing 2% compared to the power supply and national power system operation plan in 2024; basically achieved the target set in the adjusted plan for peak power supply in the dry season and the whole year of 2024.

Focus on removing difficulties for key power projects

In 2025, for the Power sector, MOIT will continue to consult the Government on mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties, attract investment, and develop energy types.

EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An spoke at the conference

Some outstanding information about EVN's 2024 performance results such as the disbursement in construction investment surpassed the plan by 10.8%; power generated for 2 units of the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, with a total capacity of 360MW; increased about 4,000km of power transmission lines and 17,000MVA of new capacity of energized substations, etc. Technical and economic indicators still maintain the Top 4 Asean. In business-customer service, 99.3% of electricity bills are paid without cash and 100% (12) of electricity services are completely online at level 4.

EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An added that in 2024, Vietnam Electricity was recognized as a level 4 digital enterprise and strives to become a digital enterprise by 2025. EVN is also the first enterprise in Vietnam and the only one in Southeast Asia to successfully engineering and manufacture a 500kV - 3x300MVA transformer, the largest capacity on the domestic transmission grid.

Promoting the achievements, in 2025, EVN will continue to maintain the investment speed and complete projects such as Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion, Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line, etc. while increasing labor productivity, digital transformation, and streamlining the apparatus.

Some targets for power balancing of the Industry and Trade sector in 2025:

- Total power production and import of the whole system is estimated at 347.5 billion kWh, an increase of about 12.2% compared to that of 2024.

- Total power source capacity (excluding rooftop solar power) is 82,097MW, an increase of about 6.2% compared to that of 2024.
