On the afternoon of July 28 in Da Nang City, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union held its Mid-Year Review Conference, which reviewed trade union activities during the first half of 2026, outlined key tasks for the remaining six months of the year, summarized the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), and reviewed five years of implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Renewed operations deliver outstanding results

Delegates attend conference reviewing trade union activities for first half of 2026 and outlining key tasks for remainder of year.

The first half of 2026 witnessed a clear transformation in the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union's operating approach, with activities increasingly directed toward grassroots organizations and centered on union members and employees. Particular attention was given to frontline workers, including those engaged in power system operation and maintenance, transmission and distribution network repairs, construction of key power projects, outdoor work under extreme heat, and assignments in remote, mountainous, border, and island areas, as well as employees facing difficult circumstances.

During the first six months of the year, trade unions at all levels organized visits and provided support to 76,285 union members and employees, with total assistance amounting to VND 67.892 billion. Support was extended to 2,606 employees experiencing financial hardship, while 31,867 employees received gifts during public holidays, the Lunar New Year, and other significant occasions. In addition, 196 families of employees eligible for preferential social policies were visited. Through the "Trade Union Shelter" program, eight houses were newly built or repaired for union members and employees in difficult circumstances.

During Workers' Month 2026, 423 trade union units organized welfare activities benefiting 42,374 union members and employees. Support was provided to 2,987 employees facing hardship and 408 employees suffering from occupational diseases, serious illnesses, or other special circumstances. A total of 180 "Trade Union Meals" were served to 15,172 employees, while 51,324 workers received periodic health check-ups, health consultations, and healthcare services.

Throughout Workers' Month, the trade union system organized 360 dialogue sessions and 55 employee forums, receiving 351 recommendations, most of which were resolved or addressed through coordination with employers.

Hundreds of initiatives to improve working conditions were implemented, helping raise safety awareness and reduce occupational risks across production activities.

Emulation movements continued to be closely aligned with EVN's production and business activities and major power projects. Campaigns such as "Skilled Workforce – High Productivity – Better Income," the "10,000 Initiatives" program, and project-based emulation drives encouraged employees to propose innovations, improve technical processes, enhance labor productivity, and accelerate digital transformation. During the first half of the year, the system recorded 3,266 research topics, technical solutions, and innovative initiatives, with numerous outstanding collectives and individuals receiving commendations.

At the same time, communication and digital transformation efforts continued to evolve through wider application of digital platforms, diversified communication channels, expanded use of infographics, videos, and social media, and the gradual standardization of data systems supporting trade union operations. The organizational structure of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union was also streamlined, improving operational efficiency and coordination across all trade union levels.

These achievements reflect a meaningful transformation in the Trade Union's operating model and reaffirm its role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees, while contributing to EVN's successful accomplishment of its key tasks during the first half of 2026.

 Working together to improve operational effectiveness

Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union will continue to work closely with professional management to help achieve EVN's production and business objectives while further strengthening its role in representing, supporting, and safeguarding employees' legitimate rights and interests. Priority will be given to motivating employees to excel in production, ensuring the safe, stable, and continuous supply of electricity. Special attention will continue to be paid to frontline personnel responsible for power system operation, maintenance, and construction—particularly during periods of extreme heat, the rainy and storm seasons, at major construction sites, and in remote, mountainous, and island areas.

The Trade Union will also continue promoting emulation movements linked to business operations, with particular emphasis on the "Skilled Workforce – High Productivity – Better Income" campaign, encouraging innovation, digital transformation, and emulation activities at EVN's key projects. At the same time, efforts will focus on modernizing communication activities, enhancing training for trade union officials, completing organizational restructuring, standardizing data systems, and expanding the application of digital technologies in trade union management and administration. These initiatives are expected to build a leaner, more professional, and more effective trade union organization capable of meeting EVN's development requirements in the years ahead.

During the conference, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union also presented Certificates of Merit to 28 collectives and 33 individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to organizing and implementing Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health 2026.
