In 2024 alone, Vietnam had an additional 163 green buildings.
Ranked by province, Ho Chi Minh City ranked first in green-certified areas in 2024, with 3.4 million square meters of floor space, followed by Hanoi, Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong.
Green projects will contribute to the goal of reducing 74.3 million tons of CO2 by 2030 according to commitments in Vietnam's Self-Determined Contribution (NDC) to the construction industry, moving towards net zero emissions by 2050.
Green buildings are regulated from design, and construction to operation to meet the criteria and standards of energy efficiency, resource-saving, ensuring living environment quality, and environmental protection. Projects need to meet environmental performance and energy-saving operations to be recognized as green buildings, in addition to sustainable criteria for design and construction materials.
