EVN leadership engages with Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), Japan

On August 6th at Hanoi, Mr. Vo Quang Lam, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), hosted and conducted discussions with a delegation from Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO) in Japan, led by Mr. Kojima Riki, Vice President.
TEPCO Holdings shares insights and experiences with EVN
During the meeting, representatives from EVN highlighted the corporation's recent achievements in power production and business, particularly in the areas of distribution and transmission grid management. EVN also discussed the implementation of digital transformation and the adoption of the fourth industrial revolution across governance, power production, business, and customer service domains.
A notable accomplishment was Vietnam's dramatic improvement in the electricity access index, advancing from 156th to 27th place among 190 countries and economies worldwide between 2013 and 2021, a feat recognized and highly praised by the World Bank.
Mr. Kojima Riki, Vice President of TEPCO Japan, expressed admiration for EVN’s successes, especially in the areas of business and customer service, which have greatly enhanced customer satisfaction and experience.
TEPCO provided an overview of Japan’s energy market, discussing the structure of electricity pricing, including seasonal rates and peak-hour pricing. Both parties also explored and shared optimal strategies for power system operation.
EVN Vice President Vo Quang Lam expressed deep appreciation for the insights shared by TEPCO as well as hope that the two corporations will continue their collaboration for effective energy projects under signed MOR and explore new opportunities for cooperation in emerging fields.

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 15, 2023, to facilitate cooperation in information exchange and explore specific opportunities amid the global energy transition, digital transformation, green development, and carbon emission reduction trends—aiming towards carbon neutrality by 2050. Following the MOU, TEPCO and EVN have identified and proposed several key areas for cooperation, focusing on energy transition, retail business and services, corporate governance, digital transformation, optimal power system operation, and offshore wind power development.
