Tra Vinh is a province with great potential for renewable energy development, especially wind power. In order to effectively tap into this potential, Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee has sent a report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommending a list of projects to be included in the implementation plan of Master Plan VIII with many renewable energy projects, including 26 nearshore/coastal wind power projects (total capacity of 17,467MW) and 04 offshore wind power projects (total capacity of 10,000MW).

At the meeting, EVNGENCO 1 and Vietsovpetro introduced their company profiles, experiences, and resources for investment, management, and operation of wind power projects such as capabilities of investigation, manufacturing and installation, operation and maintenance, technical troubleshooting for wind power plants; high-quality and skilled human resources; competencies and a long history of key project management, etc.
In their position as large and significant enterprises of Vietnam, with strong and stable financial capacity, and good professional capability, EVNGENCO 1 and Vietsovpetro have proposed to the leader of Tra Vinh province to permit them to invest in a wind power center in the coastal area of the province with a total capacity of 2,000MW, divided into a number of projects/power plants to put into operation in phases.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVNGENCO 1 and the leadership of Vietsovpetro have affirmed that the project will be invested with advanced and environmentally friendly technology, ensuring investment progress and efficiency; contributing to the local economic development, social security and creating job opportunities for local people in Tra Vinh province.
