Energizing Nha Trang-Thap Cham 220kV transmission line (phase 1)

At 21:05 on 25 August 2023, the Central Vietnam Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) in coordination with relevant units energized phase 1 of the section from position 92 (connecting branch line of the Cam Ranh 220kV substation) to position 138A (connecting Thien Tan 1.4 Solar Power Plant) under the Nha Trang-Thap Cham 220kV transmission line project.

Nha Trang-Thap Cham 220kV transmission line project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed by CPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company No.3. The construction scale of the project consists of a double-circuit 220kV transmission line with a length of more than 88km; a new 220kV feeder bay at Nha Trang 220kV Substation (Khanh Hoa province) and a 220kV feeder bay, a ring circuit breaker and ring busbars at Thap Cham 220kV substation (Ninh Thuan province).

One of the project construction investment objectives is to meet the capacity release of solar power plants and wind power plants connected to 110kV and 220kV grids in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces in the coming period.

Particularly, the energizing phase 1 with the transmission line section from position 92 to 138A (about 25km long) has contributed capacity release of the Thien Tan 1.4 Solar Power Plant and provided an additional 100MWp to the power system to meet the regional load demand.

A location on Nha Trang-Thap Cham 220kV transmission line has been successfully energized

The phase 1 completion of the project is of great significance, creating a motivation for the whole construction site to determine to overcome difficulties and challenges to complete and energize the whole project in September 2023 following the direction of EVN and EVNNPT.
