Promote energy cooperation between Vietnam and Czech Republic

On February 27, on the sidelines of the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in the UAE, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien had a bilateral meeting and working session with Mr. Jozef Síkela, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and Minister Jozef Síkela discussed the situation and solutions to promote economic - trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Minister Jozef Síkela said that there are many projects the Czech Republic is implementing in Vietnam in the energy field. He highly appreciated the cooperation model between Škoda Auto and Thanh Cong Group as well as cooperation projects with Vietnam Electricity. The Minister also shared the difficulties and challenges in energy conversion in the Czech Republic, retiring coal power plants that account for 40% of the total electricity source in the country to develop renewable energy. The Czech Republic has just completed building the National Energy Development Strategy with two main pillars: renewable energy and biomass and atomic energy.
