Promoting capital arrangement progress for Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project

On May 28, in Hanoi, EVN Vice President Nguyen Xuan Nam welcomed and worked with the delegation of the Reconstruction Credit Institute (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – KfW) on the capital arrangement progress for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project and ongoing and upcoming projects.

The KfW delegation included Mr. Harald Gerding - Head of the KfW Energy Department and Ms. Anette Haller - Director of KfW in Hanoi.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed in detail the contents related to the progress and terms of capital arrangement for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project.

On EVN's side, EVN Vice President Nguyen Xuan Nam expressed his gratitude and appreciation for KfW's active support and assistance to EVN through ODA preferential loans to invest, construct, and renovate distribution, transmission, and wind power projects in Vietnam, contributing to ensuring the stability of the power system and supplying efficient and sustainable energy sources.

The Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project is the first project that KfW has directly lent to EVN without a government guarantee. EVN leaders desire that both sides will continue to make efforts to sign a loan agreement for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project in 2024.

At the meeting, Mr. Harald Gerding – Head of the KfW Energy Department pledged to closely coordinate with EVN to promote the progress of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project as well as the priority projects of the two sides in the coming time. In addition, KfW, AfD, JICA, and EIB are coordinating to arrange capital for the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant project in the form of direct loans, without government guarantees.
