Capacity of Tuyen Quang 220kV Substation increased to 500MVA

On the afternoon of July 8, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), Power Transmission Company No. 1 (PTC1), in coordination with the Northern Load Dispatch Center (NSO) and relevant units, successfully energized the project to increase the capacity of the Tuyen Quang 220kV Substation.
The project was invested by EVNNPT, with PTC1 assigned to manage project implementation and take over operation upon completion. The project was carried out within the premises of the Tuyen Quang 220kV Substation in Kim Phu Commune, Tuyen Quang City, Tuyen Quang Province (now My Lam Ward, Tuyen Quang Province).
The project involved replacing the 125MVA AT2 transformer with a new 250MVA transformer. Upon completion, the total capacity of the Tuyen Quang 220kV Substation increased from 375MVA to 500MVA, comprising two transformers, each with a capacity of 250MVA.

AT2 transformer at Tuyen Quang 220kV Substation has been successfully upgraded.
At the 110kV level, the project included the replacement of several pieces of equipment at the 110kV main bay of transformer AT2 and the 110kV bus coupler bay to ensure synchronized operation. At the 22kV level, the existing 10kV medium-voltage equipment was replaced with new 22kV equipment. In addition, the auxiliary power supply was transferred from transformer AT2 to the existing transformer AT1, and the necessary technical solutions were completed to suit the substation's operating configuration.
The completion of the project will help improve the reliability and safety of power supply for electricity consumers in Tuyen Quang Province under both normal operating conditions and N-1 contingency conditions. It also meets growing electricity demand, supporting the socio-economic development of Tuyen Quang Province and the Northern region.
In addition, the project helps strengthen the interconnection capability of the power transmission system, improve the stability and safe operation of the national power system, enhance voltage quality in the project area and surrounding areas, reduce transmission power losses, and thereby improve EVN's production and business efficiency.
