Residents of A Tu 1 and A Tu 3 residential clusters, A Tu Village, Ch'Om Commune (Tay Giang District, Quang Nam Province) have just welcomed great joy when the national grid officially reached 74 households (295 people) here. This is a memorable event, marking the completion of the power supply to the last two residential clusters of the Ch'Om border commune right before the Lunar New Year of At Ty.

The project scales of more than 1.1km of medium-voltage lines, 1.2km of low-voltage lines, and 2 substations with a capacity of 100kVA.

The total cost of the project is VND 3.9 billion. This is part of the Socio-Economic Development Program for Land Border Communes while strengthening national defense, security, and foreign affairs in Quang Nam Province for the 2019-2025 period. The project is invested by the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Tay Giang District.

Before accessing electricity, people in the A Tu 1 and A Tu 3 residential clusters (Ch'Om Commune) still had to rely on small turbines to generate electricity. However, with the determination to bring light to people before the Lunar New Year 2025, Dong Giang Power Unit (Quang Nam PC) in coordination with people transported materials over more than 2km of arduous road to install power meters in time. At the same time, the unit also actively guided people to sign power purchase agreements, distributed leaflets instructing them on the safe and economical use of electricity, and supported the handling of electrical systems in each family.

Preparation of materials and equipment to install power meters for people

Putting the project into use will open up opportunities for economic development, improving people’s lives in the highlands. With electricity, people can buy audio-visual equipment for entertainment, learn farming and animal husbandry techniques, and use machinery for production.

This project not only improves life but also contributes to poverty reduction and maintains political stability in the border area, creating momentum for sustainable development.
