On the afternoon of November 27 in Ho Chi Minh City, on the sidelines of the 2025 National Conference on Science and Technology in the Electricity Sector, Mr. Ngo Son Hai – Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – held a working session with the executive delegation from Lancang-Mekong International Energy Co., Ltd. (CSGLMI), a subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid (CSG).

The CSGLMI delegation included Mr. Chen Xu, Member of the Board of Directors and General Director, Ms. Huang Jizhong, Deputy Chief Economist, and Mr. Zhao Chunhui, Chief Representative of the company’s office in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the implementation progress of recent cooperation initiatives – particularly those related to cross-border power trading projects via interconnection lines along the border areas. Vice President Ngo Son Hai called on CSGLMI to continue close coordination with EVN in promptly finalizing the necessary procedures for power purchase agreements and technical interconnection points, thereby accelerating the progress of electricity import projects from China that have already received approval in principle from both governments.

CSGLMI leadership reaffirmed the company’s strong commitment to its long-standing partnership with EVN and appreciated the joint efforts made by both sides in advancing power transmission and trading projects. CSGLMI also pledged to continue reporting to and advising relevant Chinese authorities to help resolve regulatory and financial obstacles, facilitating faster progress of ongoing projects.

The company also expressed a desire to maintain regular coordination mechanisms, exchange working delegations, and further enhance knowledge-sharing in areas such as transmission grid operations, technology applications, and energy transition.
