EVNHANOI donates “Lighting Up Border Areas” project in Son La

On November 8, in Co Tom village, Yen Son commune, Son La province, the Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI), in coordination with the Chieng On Border Guard Station, organized the handover of the “Lighting Up Border Areas” project to local residents.
Co Tom village, located nearly 300km from the capital, lies in a high mountainous area along the Viet Nam–Laos border and is one of the most disadvantaged border villages of Yen Son commune. Here, 98% of the population are Xinh Mun ethnic people, with a high poverty rate and difficult living conditions. Local residents mainly depend on upland farming, growing maize and cassava, and small-scale livestock raising for their livelihood.

The working delegation of the Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI), with the coordination and support of the Chieng On Border Guard Station, proactively conducted surveys and installed 20 solar-powered lighting sets in advance, handing them over to border guard officers and soldiers for further pole installation and full completion along the main routes in the village.
Once completed, the project will provide the first source of public lighting for Co Tom village, helping residents travel more safely at night, improving living and production conditions, and spreading EVNHANOI’s spirit of sharing and solidarity with communities in remote border areas. It will also contribute, together with the border guard forces, to maintaining security and order in this frontline region of the country.
