After 5 days and nights of urgent construction, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), An Giang Power Company, in coordination with relevant units, successfully energized the 110kV overhead line at 10:42 PM on December 5th, remedying the incident of the 110kV Ha Tien – Phu Quoc submarine cable, and completely restoring power supply to all customers in the Phu Quoc special zone. The recovery work was completed 5 days ahead of schedule.

The 110kV overhead line was constructed from the existing onshore submarine cable connection tower on the Ha Tien side to the location of the incident, spanning 4 sections.

The project was implemented and successfully energized in a short time, promptly restoring the electricity supply to serve the production and business activities of the people and enterprises on the island following the incident.

After restoring power supply to the Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang Power Company continues to coordinate with relevant units to carry out the next steps to repair the damaged cable section, restoring it to its original condition.

Previously, at 1:15 PM on November 29, 2025, an incident occurred on the 110kV line 173 Ha Tien – 172 Phu Quoc, causing a power outage at the 110kV Phu Quoc Substation, affecting the electricity supply to the Phu Quoc special zone. According to records, Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. was constructing a steel platform within the safety corridor of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc submarine cable route on the Ha Tien coast. The driving of steel piles for the platform was the cause of the incident on the 110kV submarine cable section supplying power to the Phu Quoc special zone.

Immediately after the incident, to maintain power supply and safe operation of the electrical system, An Giang Power Company urgently implemented a plan to prioritize power supply from the 110/22kV Nam Phu Quoc Substation source via the 22kV medium-voltage grid to priority customer groups; and encouraged large customers with generators to operate them autonomously to utilize the remaining capacity for residential customers. Furthermore, the Southern Power Corporation also mobilized 20 mobile diesel generators from member Power Companies, with a total capacity of 3.5MW, and transported them to Phu Quoc to increase the power supply for customers.
