The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) with a total investment of nearly VND 85 billion, with PTC2 assigned as the investor; construction commenced on November 26, 2025.
Recognizing the importance and urgency of ensuring power supply to the Dung Quat Economic Zone, immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, PTC2 directed contractors including Song Hong Power Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company and Pacific Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, in coordination with the design consultant, Quang Ngai Power Construction and Transmission Consulting Joint Stock Company, to expedite construction, ensuring safety, quality, and project progress.
After a period of construction, the project was completed ahead of schedule, energizing the power plant just before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. Bringing the project into operation contributes to increasing the load capacity of the existing power lines, meeting load growth, and releasing power from regional power generation sources into the national grid, while also strengthening the stable and long-term power supply for the Dung Quat Economic Zone in particular and Quang Ngai province in general in the future.

The project "Upgrading the Doc Soi - Dung Quat 220kV Transmission Line Capacity" focuses on renovating and upgrading the entire transmission line and related components to increase power transmission capacity. Specifically, on the approximately 8.85km (2 circuits) transmission line, the project replaces the old conductors with new ones that have a higher load capacity and are safer, while also installing additional protective and auxiliary equipment.
At the Doc Soi 500kV Substation, the project to renovate and replace equipment in two 220kV line bays, including equipment for measurement, switching, and isolation, was selected according to standards capable of withstanding major power outages and compatible with the new high-capacity transmission line system.
At the Dung Quat 220kV Substation, the project involves replacing the isolation equipment in two 220kV line bays with new equipment that offers higher safety and reliability, suitable for increasing the transmission capacity of the line after renovation.
Earlier, on the afternoon of February 12th, at the Bo Y 220kV Substation, Quang Ngai Power Transmission Company (PCT2), in coordination with relevant units, successfully energized the project to install equipment to restore the connection diagram. The project focused on completing and rearranging equipment and connection methods at the substation, combined with cleaning and maintenance of the entire system, thereby restoring stable operation of the related 220kV lines. The completion and commissioning of the project on schedule, before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, contributes to improving the reliability of power supply, meeting load demand, and enhancing transmission capacity for the western region of Quang Ngai province and the national power grid.
