Speaking at the ceremony, EVN’s Chairman Duong Quang Thanh congratulated the achievements of EVNGENCO 1's employees in the past 5 years (2012 - 2017). The Corporation has made important contributions to ensuring electricity for the country, especially to the electricity supply for the South during hot seasons.

Over the past five years, the electricity generation output of the Corporation has increased twofold, from 14,058 million kWh (in 2013) to over 28,100 million kWh (estimated in 2017). Aggregating in 5 years, the generation output of the Corporation contributes to the national power system 101,914 million kWh, together with EVN securing sufficient electricity for the socio - economic development of the country.
The Corporation has arranged enough capital for construction and investment activities with the total value in the period 2013 - 2017 of VND 99,296 billion. During this period, EVNGENCO 1 has put into commercial operation power units of Duyen Hai 1, Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plants with the total installed capacity of 2,490 MW, put into operation the coal terminal of Duyen Hai Power Complex, commenced Da Nhim Hydropower Extension project, etc.
The corporate restructuring and improvement of governance effectiveness have been on the right track. In 2017, the labor productivity of the parent company has increased 1.8 times compared to 2013 (from 3.65 million kWh per person to 6.7 million kWh per person), the labor intensive rate according to installed capacity has dropped by 40% (from 1 person per MW to 0.63 people per MW).
Taking this chance, EVN announced Decision No. 234/QD-EVN dated December 21, 2017 on the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Tien Khoa - Deputy General Director of Power Generation Corporation 1 as the Chairman of the Corporation from January 1, 2018, replacing Mr. Nguyen Loan who will retire as per regulations.
At the same time, EVN has handed over Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant (which belongs to EVN) to the the Power Generation Corporation 1 as a financially dependent power company.
