EVN strengthens cooperation with Microsoft Thailand and Vietnam on digital transformation and AI

On the morning of October 16 in Hanoi, Mr. Ngo Son Hai – Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – received and held a working session with Mr. Dhanawat Suthumpun – General Manager of Microsoft Thailand and Vietnam, to exchange ideas and promote cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and IT workforce development.

During the meeting, Mr. Dhanawat Suthumpun expressed Microsoft’s desire to continue supporting EVN in its digital transformation journey, thereby enhancing the Group’s governance, operational efficiency, and digital workforce development. The Microsoft representative affirmed the company’s commitment to collaborating and sharing expertise, technologies, and resources in areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data, and AI applications, with the goal of building a modern, flexible, safe, and efficient digital working environment.
Throughout the course of their cooperation, Microsoft has supported EVN in various areas — particularly in training, deploying AI applications, and adopting modern work tools. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft provided nearly 65,000 free Microsoft Teams accounts, enabling EVN to maintain smooth operations across its management and business activities. In addition, Microsoft granted GitHub Copilot accounts for EVN to trial automated programming, yielding promising results in the application of emerging technologies.
The two sides also exchanged views on future cooperation directions, focusing on the following areas: training and enhancing digital capabilities for EVN staff; developing information technology infrastructure and cloud computing platforms; promoting the application of AI in data analytics and power system operation management; establishing an AI governance framework aligned with international standards; and developing a digital workplace environment as well as modern programming capabilities for EVN’s IT engineers.
