The total power production and import output of the entire system in April reached 26.85 billion kWh, of which the largest daily output reached 974 million kWh (April 22) and the largest capacity reached 46,696MW (April 21). Accumulated in the first 4 months of 2025, the total system output reached 98.98 billion kWh. The proportion of mobilized power sources of the entire system in the first 4 months is as follows:
+ Hydropower: 18.5 billion kWh, accounting for 18.7%.
+ Coal-fired thermal power: 56.6 billion kWh, accounting for 57.2%.
+ Gas turbines: 6.9 billion kWh, accounting for 6.9%.
+ Renewable energy: 15.2 billion kWh, accounting for 15.3% (of which solar power reached 9.31 billion kWh, wind power reached 5.37 billion kWh).
+ Imported electricity: 1.72 billion kWh, accounting for 1.7%...
Electricity transmission output in April 2025 is estimated at 22.3 billion kWh; cumulative output in the first 4 months of 2025 is estimated at 80.82 billion kWh.
Investment and construction work: In the first 4 months of 2025, EVN and its member units have started 40 projects and completed energizing 102 power grid projects from 110 to 500kV (01 500kV project, 06 220kV projects and 95 110kV projects), including 02 key projects: Phu Binh 2 220kV transformer station, Huoi Quang - Nghia Lo 220kV transmission line.
Regarding the project of supplying electricity from the national grid to Con Dao district: focus on simultaneously implementing bidding packages for goods supply and construction as scheduled.
Other targeted tasks: The Group has directed its units to: (1) Ensure power supply and construction investment in 2025 following the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Finance; (2) Implement solutions to improve customer service quality, direct electricity retail rate and effective and sustainable power supply plan; (3) Ensure safety against electrical incidents and fire and explosion incidents caused by the power grid in public places, residential areas, and entertainment areas; (4) Emulate to operate the power supply safely, stably and effectively in 2025, and so on.
Some key tasks of EVN in May 2025
With the assessment that in May, the temperature will increase in all three regions, so the load demand in this month will increase with the expected electricity production and import output of about 29.5 billion, and so on. EVN requires the member units to focus on efforts to carry out tasks under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, to resolutely, synchronously, and effectively deploy solutions to ensure power supply in May and the peak months of the dry season.
Regarding power production and supply:
- Closely coordinate with NSMO to mobilize power sources to regulate and keep water in hydroelectric reservoirs at a reasonable level until the end of the dry season in 2025.
- Power Generation Corporations and power generation units ensure sufficient fuel for power production according to system demand; Strengthen inspection and supervision of power plants, especially coal-fired thermal power plants in the North, to ensure the availability and reliability of generators, and absolutely prevent incidents due to subjectivity during the peak months of the dry season.
- The National Power Transmission Corporation ensures the highest availability of power lines and equipment; continues to strengthen the review and effective implementation of solutions to minimize transmission grid incidents.
- Power Corporations/Power Companies continue to closely coordinate with local authorities to implement solutions to save power and adjust load. Develop and announce regulations on annual, monthly, weekly, and daily operation plans/methods, including plans to deal with extreme situations with the risk of imbalance in power supply and demand, and proactively report to the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and centrally-run cities. At the same time, propagate, guide and support people and businesses to effectively implement the direct power purchase and sale mechanism im compliance with Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP dated March 3, 2025, and the mechanism for developing self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power sources in accordance with Decree No. 58/2025/ND-CP dated March 3, 2025, of the Government.
Regarding investment in power source construction: Accelerate the construction progress of key power source projects, and strive to commence the Tri An Hydropower Expansion Project in May 2025.
Regarding investment in power grid construction: Focus on directing and urging the progress of investment preparation and construction progress of key power grid projects. Especially for the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project: Closely follow and urge the People's Committees of 04 provinces to complete the handover of the entire grid corridor before May 10, 2025; concentrate human resources, construction machinery, organize simultaneous construction at all locations where the site has been handed over, complete foundation casting in May 2025; complete power pole erection in July 2025, and so on.
To reduce difficulties in operating the power system during the dry season and prolonged hot weather, and minimize the risk of power failures due to increased demand for electricity - especially in the North, EVN hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active cooperation of people and electricity customers through thoroughly using electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon and in the evening. In particular, it is required to pay special attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning, only turning on the air conditioner when really necessary, setting the temperature at 26- 27°C or higher; at the same time, pay attention not to use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time during peak hours.
