Steering Committee for Coal Supply for Power Generation held first meeting session in 2025

The Steering Committee for Coal Supply for Power Generation held its first meeting in 2025 on the morning of February 28 in Binh Thuan province to prepare for the peak months of the dry season and develop solutions to ensure coal supply for EVN's thermal power plants throughout the year.

Mr. Vu Xuan Khu - Deputy General Director of the National Power System and Electricity Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade attended the meeting.

From Vietnam Electricity (EVN), there were Mr. Ngo Son Hai – Vice President of the Group, Mr. Le Van Danh - General Director of Power Generation Corporation 3 and leaders of thermal power plants under EVN.

From Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) was Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam - Deputy General Director of the Group.

From Dong Bac Corporation was Mr. Vu Sy Thang - Deputy General Director of the Corporation.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam - Deputy General Director of Vinacomin and Mr. Vu Sy Thang - Deputy General Director of Dong Bac Corporation were committed to ensuring timely coal supply, ahead of schedule, meeting the demand for electricity generation and inventory for EVN's power plants. All the parties agreed to constantly cooperate closely, make efforts to carry out the political tasks assigned by the Party and the State, and strictly implement the Government's instructions to ensure energy security.

On the side of Vietnam Electricity, EVN’s Vice President Ngo Son Hai highly appreciated the effective cooperation efforts of Vinacomin and Dong Bac Corporation in ensuring coal supply for the Group's thermal power plants. Coal quality has improved significantly compared to previous years.

EVN requested that its power generation subsidiaries pay attention to ensuring high coal inventories and proactively work with suppliers; strengthen close coordination with NSMO and EPTC  to review, select, and adjust demand according to plan.

EVN requested that Vinacomin and Dong Bac Corporation keep on finding good quality, long-term coal sources, ensuring technical indicators approaching the plant's design, reducing coal loss rate, and improving the operational efficiency of generators.
